Project Citizen: Kami Bangsa Indonesia
CCEI develops and implements the program which is called Praktik Belajar Kewarganegaraan-- Kami Bangsa Indonesia in Junior High School and Dasar-Dasar Demokrasi in Elementary School, collaborating with the teachers from the university, school, Local National Education, Religious Institutions and also Ministry of National Education. In general, the program of CCEI is divided into 3 steps: Training, Implementation, and Evaluation program. Until February 2007, CCEI Indonesia already did those steps in the program of Praktik Belajar Kewarganegaraan--Kami Bangsa Indonesia which is held in the Junior High School.
In seventeen provinces from Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam to Papua, teams of middle school students are working on projects, which they've selected, to identify issues that directly impact their communities. They work with their families, the local business community, and religious and political leaders towards solutions that are appropriate for their area. Over 400,000 students from across Indonesia have participated in this program. Their efforts, and the showcases, where they explain their projects to a panel of community leaders, are the essence of Kami Bangsa Indonesia (KBI), a program of the Center for Civic Education Indonesia (CCEI).
